Sometimes waiting for something to happen is like waiting for rain in San Antonio. I’m not sure exactly when it will arrive, how long it will last, or how much water the city will get. However, I do know that it will eventually rain. That’s a little bit like building my art business. Sometimes finding help, getting time to apply what I do, and finally carrying it out takes time. However, one of my many sources of help is Launch SA in San Antonio. What they do is help entrepreneurs and small businesses to get the resources they need to succeed. I sat down with one of the individuals last year with my laptop, business cards, some of my products, and etc. He helped me learn about the Wave accounting program and how I can use it to keep track of all the books on the table. (Of course, there are NO books under the table; that’s wrong!). He suggested some new shows that I could try that were within my budget, like farmer’s markets, and some things that I should change about my website. One of the biggest things I love about Launch SA is that some of these services are free to use, so this year I will be making a few changes around here. Instead of a few shows every year, I will be trying to do at least one show a month. It may be more exhausting, but it sounds like a goal that I can follow through with. I’m going to learn more about bookkeeping though Wave Accounting, and, even if it’s one of the things I really struggle with, I need to make changes to my website. Yes, figuring out the technology of the website is time consuming. And knowing what changes to make on the website are frustrating. But it’s well worth all the blood, sweat, and tears to keep Off the Beaten Path in existence.
