Today is the Super Bowl, and millions of fans will be rooting for one of two teams in the NFL. Thousands of people are rooting for either the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers. It’s always been amazing for me to see the outlandish face-painting that sports fans may wear at the game. What’s more amazing is how much people are willing to pay for a 2024 ticket to the Super Bowl this year, somewhere between $2,000-$45,000 for a ticket. And you could be paying around one million dollars for a suite for a group of people. (I always thought this was a waste of money for one game on one day since watching it on tv is cheaper.) So who am I rooting for this year? Well, nobody. I’m not a sports fan; I never have been . But I am a fan of Jesus, which reminds me of the children’s story I heard at my grandma’s church one time when I went for a visit. The pastor held up one of the big, foam sports hands that people plant in their yard supporting a team they love. He discussed how people supported their sports teams and asked, “What if I put one of these in my yard announcing that I’m a Jesus fan?” I still remember this story after all of these years. Now, I may not have a lawn since I live in an apartment, but I can announce and get excited about how much of a Jesus fan that I really am. I can tell others about His awesome love and outstanding knowledge and intelligence without being embarrassed about it. Nobody should be, and in fact, that is part of what this website is about; no apologies necessary. I encourage every Christian out there not to be embarrassed about Jesus.
